About our organisation...

Parkside is an independent charity which was founded in 1963 by a group of like minded parents who realised the support for familes of children with special needs was limited. So they built the premises here in Guildford Road and started their own playgroup called the Peter Pan club. Now the charity has grown so much that we employ in the region of 70 people and provide not only Children's Saturday clubs, After-school clubs but also an Adults Day scheme and of course not forgetting our Children's Summer Play scheme.

We recognise that every person with a disability is different - they have different interests, abilities, likes and dislikes just like everyone else.

Our aim at Parkside is to identify their individual requirements and put in place strategies to meet their needs, to enable them to be recognised as part of the community, make the most of their opportunities and live life to the full
